Topics and Committees

Security Council - Transitioning from conflict to peace: the role of UN peacekeepers: The United Nations Security Council plays a central role in supporting the transition from conflict to sustainable peace. This includes facilitating ceasefires, deploying peacekeeping operations, and promoting political dialogue between parties. Challenges such as fragile institutions, ongoing violence, and lack of trust often hinder post-conflict recovery, making coordinated international support essential for long-term stability.

Historic Security Council - Libyan 2011 crisis: The Libyan Civil War began in February 2011 as part of the Arab Spring, when protests against Muammar Gaddafi escalated into violent conflict. Government crackdowns led to civilian casualties and armed resistance, dividing the country and prompting urgent debate within the United Nations over a possible international response.

United Nations Environmental Program - Sustainable farming and new tech solutions: Sustainable farming refers to agricultural practices that meet current food needs without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same. The United Nations Environment Programme promotes methods such as efficient water use, soil conservation, and reduced chemical inputs to minimize environmental impact. Challenges including climate change, land degradation, and population growth continue to strain global food systems, making sustainable agriculture a key priority for long-term environmental and economic stability.

United Nations General Assembly 3rd Committee- Women’s representation at the United Nations: Women’s rights and representation remain central to the work of the United Nations General Assembly, with ongoing efforts to promote gender equality in political, economic, and social spheres. Despite progress, women continue to be underrepresented in leadership positions within both national governments and the UN system. Initiatives led by bodies such as UN Women aim to increase participation, eliminate discrimination, and ensure equal access to opportunities worldwide.
